Position:

  • Legal Counsel – UPL SAS

Experience:

  • 4–7 years Post-Qualification Experience (PQE)

Eligibility Criteria:

  • LL.B. / LL.M. from a reputed university
  • 4–7 years experience in law firms and/or corporate legal teams
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, analytical, and interpretation skills
  • Experience handling regulatory issues and litigation
  • Understanding of contract lifecycle management and compliance frameworks
  • Strong stakeholder management abilities
  • High level of ownership, confidentiality, and ethical conduct
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Contracting & Non-Litigation Work
  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements including:

Supply contracts

Distribution agreements

Service provider agreements

NDAs, LOIs, and inter-company agreements

  • Provide day-to-day legal advisory to business teams
  • Ensure compliance with laws including:
    • Insecticides Act / Rules
    • Fertilizer Control Order (FCO)
    • Legal Metrology laws
    • Labour Codes

Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDPA)

  • Support policy drafting, SOP development, and governance processes
  1. Litigation & Dispute Management
    • Coordinate civil, criminal, regulatory, and commercial litigation
    • Work with external counsel and prepare litigation briefs
    • Draft complaints, affidavits, responses, and legal documentation
    • Prepare management summaries for significant disputes
  2. Internal Stakeholder Management
    • Collaborate with Registration, Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, HR, Finance, and Operations teams
    • Maintain contract trackers, litigation dashboards, and compliance records
  3. Risk Mitigation & Compliance
    • Identify legal risks and recommend mitigation strategies
    • Ensure timely closure of compliance queries and escalations
