The Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy is an independent legal think tank dedicated to improving laws and governance through evidence-based legal research and policy reform. Vidhi works closely with the Government of India, State Governments, and public institutions by providing legislative drafting and policy support, while also conducting independent research on issues of national importance. Vidhi Bengal, the organisation’s newest state office, will commence operations in August 2026 and will focus on legal and policy reform in West Bengal.

Experience:

  • 0–2 years of relevant work experience in public policy, litigation, or law firms
  • Candidates with relevant internship experience are also encouraged to apply

Eligibility:

  • Undergraduate degree in Law (LL.B.)
  • Excellent legal research and drafting skills
  • Strong communication and presentation abilities
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of meeting deadlines

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft primary and subordinate legislation on matters within the State’s legislative competence
  • Attend and present at meetings, consultations, and briefings with government officials and stakeholders
  • Prepare high-quality research reports, policy briefs, research notes, and position papers
  • Write op-eds, articles, blogs, and other research publications
  • Produce podcasts and videos to disseminate legal and policy research
  • Contribute to the establishment and growth of Vidhi Bengal while working closely with the State Office Lead

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Law or Public Policy
  • Experience engaging with government officials, civil society organizations, or similar stakeholders
  • Published work in journals, newspapers, blogs, or other legal/public policy platforms
  • Familiarity with graphic design tools
  • Fluency in spoken and written Bengali

Salary:

  • Competitive remuneration based on the candidate’s experience and Vidhi’s existing compensation structure
